The Basics

Flyaway Pets is a space memorial service for beloved companion animals. We send a symbolic portion of your pet's cremated ashes into Earth orbit aboard a dedicated nanosatellite. It is a real spaceflight — not a metaphor, not a simulation, not a high-altitude balloon. Your companion physically orbits the Earth aboard a spacecraft built in Nashville, Tennessee.

Yes. This is a real orbital spaceflight. Your companion's ashes are integrated into The Vessel, a dedicated memorial payload module aboard our nanosatellite. The satellite launches into low Earth orbit from U.S. soil. After launch, you receive real mission data and live orbit tracking so you can verify your companion's position at any time. This is not symbolic — it is an actual spaceflight with verifiable orbital parameters.

Flyaway Pets is a nanosatellite memorial service headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee. Our team designs, builds, and deploys its own satellite platforms. We are not a third-party booking agent — we are the spacecraft company. Your companion flies aboard hardware we engineered and assembled ourselves.

Any cremated companion animal can be memorialized through Flyaway Pets. Dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, hamsters, horses, reptiles — if they were your companion, they qualify. The memorial requires only a symbolic amount of cremated ashes (less than a teaspoon), so it works for companions of any size.

The Process

It's three steps. First, you choose a memorial tier and we send you The Keepsake Box — a kit with a memorial vial, transfer tool, and prepaid return mailer. You place a small amount of your companion's ashes into the vial, seal it, and send it back. Second, we integrate the vial into The Vessel payload aboard our nanosatellite and launch it into orbit. Third, you receive your Flight Certificate, live orbit tracking, and a personal memorial webpage. That's it.

Just a symbolic pinch — less than a teaspoon. The memorial vial in your Keepsake Box is small by design. You keep the vast majority of your companion's remains. This is about presence, not quantity. A small amount is all that's needed for your companion to take their place among the stars.

The Keepsake Box is the memorial kit we send to you after you place your order. It contains everything you need: a precision-sealed, aerospace-grade memorial vial, a small transfer tool for placing ashes, a personal note card for writing a farewell message, and a prepaid, tamper-evident return mailer. It arrives within 5–7 business days and is designed to be simple, dignified, and self-explanatory.

The Vessel is Flyaway's dedicated memorial payload module aboard each of our nanosatellites. It is the orbital home for your companion's ashes. Each Vessel holds multiple memorial vials from different families, all securely integrated and protected from the stresses of launch and orbital environment. For Radiance and Eternal tiers, your companion's name is physically engraved on The Vessel.

No. There is no deadline on grief. Take as much time as you need before sending back your sealed Keepsake Box. Whether it's a week or six months, we will be here. Your mission slot is reserved from the moment you order.

We maintain a full chain-of-custody protocol from the moment your Keepsake Box arrives at our facility. Every vial is logged, verified, photographed, and tracked through integration and launch. You receive confirmation at each stage: intake, integration, mission assignment, and post-launch. Your companion's ashes are treated with the same precision and care we give to our spacecraft components.

Shipping & Logistics

The Keepsake Box typically ships within 1–2 business days and arrives within 5–7 business days of your order, depending on your location within the United States.

Pricing & Memorial Tiers

We offer three tiers: Glow ($149), Radiance ($249), and Eternal ($399). All tiers include the real orbital spaceflight, The Keepsake Box kit with prepaid return shipping, a digital Flight Certificate, live orbit tracking, and a personal memorial webpage. Higher tiers add features like engraved names, enhanced memorial pages, framed certificates, star maps, spacecraft keepsakes, and launch video. Visit our Memorial Tiers page for full details.

Every tier includes the same core experience: a real spaceflight aboard our nanosatellite. The difference is in the keepsakes and commemorative materials. Glow is a beautiful, complete memorial. Radiance adds your pet's name engraved on The Vessel, an enhanced memorial page with photos, and a shareable memorial card. Eternal adds a framed physical Flight Certificate, a custom star map of launch night, a spacecraft keepsake, and launch video footage.

Yes. You can upgrade your memorial tier at any time before your companion's payload is integrated into The Vessel. Contact us at support@flyawaypets.com and we'll adjust your order. You'll only pay the difference between tiers.

We are working on flexible payment options. Currently, payment is collected in full at the time of order. If cost is a concern, please reach out to us directly — we never want price to be the reason a companion doesn't get the farewell they deserve.

If you change your mind before returning your Keepsake Box, we offer a full refund minus shipping costs. Once your Keepsake Box has been received and your companion's ashes have entered our chain-of-custody process, refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. We understand that grief is complicated, and we'll always work with you.

Launch & Orbit

Launch timing depends on our mission schedule and available launch windows. After intake, we assign your companion to the next available mission and provide you with an estimated launch window. We keep you informed with regular mission updates. Typical timelines range from several weeks to several months, depending on the mission cadence.

All Flyaway missions launch from U.S. soil using domestic launch providers. Specific launch sites vary by mission but include established U.S. launch facilities. We announce the launch site as part of your mission updates.

After launch, your companion enters low Earth orbit. The nanosatellite orbits the planet, and you can track its real-time position using our orbit tracking portal. You receive your Flight Certificate with orbit parameters, mission designation, and launch data. Your memorial webpage goes live with all mission details. Your companion's journey continues for as long as the satellite remains in orbit.

Orbital duration depends on the mission altitude and orbital parameters. Low Earth orbit missions typically remain in orbit for months to years before gradually descending and re-entering the atmosphere, where the satellite and its contents are vaporized — a final, luminous farewell across the sky. Your orbit tracking remains active for the full duration of the mission.

When the orbit naturally decays, the satellite re-enters Earth's atmosphere and is completely vaporized during re-entry. Your companion's ashes become part of the atmosphere itself — returned to the sky in a final, brilliant passage. Many families find beauty in this: a journey that ends not with a stop, but with a homecoming.

We provide launch day notifications and, when available, links to livestream coverage from the launch provider. Eternal tier customers receive dedicated launch video footage as part of their memorial package. We will always give you as much advance notice as possible so you can be present — even if only from afar — for your companion's final flight.

Tracking & Deliverables

After launch, you receive access to our orbit tracking portal. Using real orbital data from our satellite, the portal shows your companion's current position above Earth in real time. You can see which countries they're passing over, their altitude, speed, and orbital path. Many families check in daily — it becomes a quiet, comforting ritual.

The Flight Certificate is a personalized document confirming your companion's spaceflight. It includes their name, your name, the mission designation, launch date, orbit parameters, and the satellite identifier. Glow and Radiance tiers receive a digital certificate. Eternal tier receives a beautifully framed physical certificate shipped to your home.

Every Flyaway companion receives a personal memorial webpage on our site. It features your pet's name, mission data, and orbit tracking. Radiance and Eternal tiers include photos and tribute text. Eternal tier includes a full photo gallery. The page remains live indefinitely and can be shared with friends and family — a permanent tribute in the stars.

The star map is a custom-printed rendering of the night sky at the exact time and location of your companion's launch. It captures the constellations, planets, and stars that were visible the moment your companion left Earth. It is a beautiful, frameable keepsake that connects the night sky to your companion's story.

Practical & Emotional

Yes. You can reserve a memorial tier at any time. We will ship your Keepsake Box when you tell us you're ready. There is no expiration on your reservation. Many families find comfort in knowing the plan is in place before the moment arrives.

Absolutely. There is no time limit on when your companion's ashes were cremated. Whether your pet passed last week or years ago, if you have cremated remains, we can send them to the stars. It is never too late to give them a farewell they deserve.

Yes. Each memorial is ordered individually, but if you have multiple companions you'd like to honor, we can coordinate to place them on the same mission whenever possible. Contact us at support@flyawaypets.com and we'll make it happen.

Many families tell us that Flyaway Pets transforms grief into wonder for their children. Instead of explaining loss as an ending, they can point to the sky and say, "Your buddy is up there, flying." The orbit tracking becomes a shared ritual — a way to stay connected. We've heard from parents that this is one of the most meaningful ways they've helped their children process loss.

Yes. A Flyaway memorial makes a deeply meaningful gift for someone navigating pet loss. You can purchase any tier and have The Keepsake Box shipped to the recipient with a personal note. Contact us if you need help with the details — we're happy to make it special.

The Hero Pets Program honors military working dogs, law enforcement K-9s, search and rescue animals, service animals, and certified therapy pets. Qualifying Hero Pets receive a special mission badge on their Flight Certificate, recognition on their memorial page, and priority mission placement. If your companion served, contact us to learn more about eligibility and sponsored memorial options.
