How Orbit Tracking Works

1

Real Satellite Data

Our nanosatellite transmits telemetry data as it orbits the Earth. Our tracking portal uses this real orbital data — not simulations — to show your companion's actual position at any moment.

2

Live Position Map

The tracker displays your companion's current location on an interactive globe, showing their path over countries and oceans. Watch them circle the planet in real time, knowing exactly where to look up.

Mission Details

View altitude, orbital speed, mission elapsed time, and total orbits completed. Every pass over your hometown is noted. Every sunrise and sunset from orbit is counted.

What You'll See

Orbital Data

  • Current Position — Latitude, longitude, and the country your companion is currently above
  • Altitude — Height above Earth's surface in kilometers
  • Speed — Orbital velocity in kilometers per hour
  • Orbital Period — Time to complete one full orbit
  • Total Orbits — Number of times your companion has circled the Earth
  • Mission Elapsed Time — Time since launch

Mission Information

  • Mission Designation — Your companion's unique mission identifier
  • Launch Date — When your companion's spacecraft lifted off
  • Launch Site — Where the mission launched from
  • Satellite ID — The nanosatellite carrying your companion
  • Payload Status — Confirmation that The Vessel is secure and in orbit
  • Next Pass Over You — When the satellite will next be visible from your location

Tracking Questions

Orbit tracking goes live after your companion's satellite is confirmed in orbit and begins transmitting telemetry data. This typically occurs within hours of launch. You'll receive an email notification the moment your tracking portal is active.

Position data updates continuously based on orbital calculations and satellite telemetry. The tracking portal shows your companion's real-time position with high accuracy, refreshing automatically as you watch.

Yes. Your memorial page and orbit tracking can be shared with anyone using a unique link. Friends, family members, and anyone who loved your companion can follow their journey together.

Orbit tracking remains active for the full duration of your companion's orbital mission — from the moment the satellite reaches orbit until its eventual natural re-entry. Your memorial page remains live indefinitely, even after the orbital mission concludes.
